April Blizzards??
Above is a picture of one of Gena's colorful and detailed April calendar pages. So soft and pretty, in gentle shades of springtime and adorned with flora and fauna. The poem by Percy Shelley in Gena's lovely, fanciful script reads:
And Spring arose on the garden fair
like the spirit of Love felt everywhere
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest
So delightful...
Gena and I swapped pages, six for six during the creation process so she created six July pages in addition to her assigned April pages, and I had the joy of making six April pages. Sneaky.... ;)
Here is my April page:
The upper part of the background is a digital image created in Photoshop. The bottom half is painted and sanded... the image of the children (my youngest two at ages 4 & 5), is mounted on small foam squares for added dimension, though it doesn't translate well in the photo. The cloud face is polymer clay, as are the little flowers in the corners. The rain sparkles with magic...
I was so happy when April arrived as we managed to escape March with NO SNOW. Buds are sprouting on the trees... tulips are poking through the soil... there are even hints of green peeking out of the vast brown patches of grass. Home free!
Not... 4-8 inches of the white stuff is predicted overnight and tomorrow. Welcome to springtime in Michigan...
