Haiku My Heart - The Earl of Grey

It's hard to believe another week has gone by so quickly and it's time for a new haiku. I've been a bit under the weather for a couple of days and it sort of snuck up on me.

There's nothing more soothing than a hot cup of tea, especially when you're not feeling so well or on a rainy day. I'm very fortunate to have a beautiful collection of tea cups that belonged to my grandmother. Over the years, I've added to them so now the china cabinet they occupy is filled to capacity. I love the vintage patterns and the delicacy of each set. Some are very unique and one day I'll get around to photographing all of them.

This photo also includes my rather beat-up copper tea pot. A favorite of mine - very gypsy. :)

As for tea, okay - I admit to having an Earl Grey addiction. I love the stuff. Any other tea addicts out there? What's your favorite? I'm a coffee drinker, too, but nothing on this earth warms these ol' bones more than a cuppa tea. Mmmm... so comforting...

There's more haiku to be found here... brew yourself a fresh cup and enjoy.

  7. Yes, yes -- sipping a cup of tea and letting silence settle around you like a fluffy comforter always feels peaceful. My favorite right now (it changes) is Republic of Tea's Wild Berry Plum green tea. It has a delicious berry scent.

  10. I didn't see this one my first visit here. You left such a beautiful message over at my place that I just wanted to come back here and visit again.
I love to have the ceremony of making tea or coffee. I use the same method for each since I use a single cup at a time Melitta cone folter for the coffee. I boil water, that's the first step.
I recently got a tea pot and some small cups from a potter friend of mine.
Once made, the beverage and I sit by the window and observe what life is doing in the wild. I see birds, the effects of the wind, (or lack of it), the wetness, if any, in many forms. Other small animals at times and people walking, running and riding bikes down a trail nearby.
Your simple words said all of this to me, making tea, usiong a nice cup. VBery nice indeed.

Thanks for sharing, and thanks again for your gracious and kind words.

    Peace.

  11. Thank you all for the great comments. There's just something about a cup of tea. My current must-have is a lovely, hand-blended Earl Grey green tea from Teaman on Etsy: teaman.etsy.com. (The Christmas blend also makes a delicious iced tea.)

I will get around to photographing all of the tea cups... one day when I have a block of uninterrupted time.

Patti, yes, you must start writing again. What I love about haiku is that it's a small commitment. ;)

Spadoman, thank you so much for returning for another visit. I meant every word I wrote about your work. Your whole tea process sounds wonderful, peaceful, as it is meant to be.

I appreciate everyone stopping by to read and comment!

  12. I had to come back to read more of your blog. I love this haiku and picture! I'm more of a coffee person, but I do enjoy a cup of good tea from time to time. In fact, I use to sale some of my digital art in a tea shop/boutique in Depot Town, Ypsilanti, before the economy forced the owner to close. She had such a fantastic tea shop where you could get Victorian tea lunches.

  13. MMT, I so love your poetic responses. Wonderful.

Bill, I cannot lie, I'm a coffee junkie, too. But unlike coffee, tea somehow soothes my soul. I wish we had a good tea shop around here. There's a book store/tea shop in Ann Arbor (darn, the name escapes me) that I would really like to visit one day. Too bad about the one in Ypsilanti.

Thanks so much for visiting again.
