Haiku My Heart – Bleeding Heart

confined
by rusted steel and ice
a heart still bleeds

An offering for both Haiku My Heart Friday and AEDM.

Too often, in trying to protect our fragile hearts, we lose what's most precious. Our vulnerability is a gift that allows us to know ourselves. Another's vulnerability is a treasure that allows us to know them. It is an honor to be invited into another's secret heart, whatever the circumstances... and deeply sad if that treasure has been buried.

Peace to all hearts.

PS - Yes, the image is from the "With wings..." piece from the last post, further enhanced... I'm getting a lot of mileage from that original, haphazardly arranged photo... ;)

  2. Yes, I can see the shards of ice very clearly. The haiku is a dramatic illustration of your illustration.

  4. Sorry I've been away, but good to be back, and especially to see this. My heart has quite a history. Wise ones have told me the places it has been. It has been out of my body, in someone else's hands, but guided by someone I know so very well. It has been broken over and over and patched again and again. The coolness of ice sounds refreshing and a nice change from the blackness.

    I love your work.

    Peace.

  5. Rebecca, Leslie, Boonie and Joe, thank you each for visiting and commenting. Our hearts are so tender and fragile, but yet stronger than we often realize.

Joe, I'm glad you were able to place yours in the hands of someone you trust. Either literally or figuratively, that's most important. Glad you're back and I hope your trip was fulfilling.

  6. It's always difficult to mend a broken heart. I wonder if ice lessons the pain?
