Though the calendar says we still have a few more days, Autumn has been sneaking her way in. And although I welcome the change, the wonderful sensory cornucopia, it's always sad to see another summer pass, isn't it? Soon she'll be fading fast.
Please visit Rebecca's blog for more Haiku My Heart Friday gifts. Join in, if you feel so inspired.
Peace.
Lovely, Deborah. Time seems to pass so much more quickly than it once did. I remember when summers stretched out endlessly. Now they fly by.
ReplyDeleteWhat a rich profusion of purple wonder you offer us here. A last lilac summer gift for all our Autumnal days. Thank you. Very lovely and a beautiful haiku Deb.
ReplyDeletexo,
Noelle
Yes, I love the sign off, Peace. And summer always ends, and then Fall and Winter and Spring. A never ending circle that keeps going even after we've all gone away.
ReplyDeleteNice stuff. Hope things are good in your life.
Peace.
what a beautiful and poignant post. Lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAre you a Hendrix fan?
All the best, Boonie
Hiya Deb,
ReplyDeleteYes.
Your son does indeed need a place to show his photographs. They are beautiful and poetic. The world would love to see them, I'm sure.
And don't you enjoy embellishing them.
I noticed that you do a slightly different rhythm version of the haiku. I am a total beginner and haven't looked into it yet.
Thank you for making contact.
Beautiful photo and words.
ReplyDeleteDeborah, I so agree about the sadness in a season's passing. Autumn is my favorite time of the year, but summer's carefree days are so hard to let go of. I love this picture and your words. Purple...the color of royalty...Summer's reign. :)
ReplyDeletegood morning deb,
ReplyDeletesorry for the late reply...i have been by several times but my computer would not allow me to post a comment.
so glad you are here exulting the seasons.
may the beauty of each day bring you comfort.
last hurrah indeed!!! placed another blanket on the bed last night! welcome Fall.
This is so beautiful. I love purple, and I love Fall. I also love haiku. Living in Michigan like you, I'm not thrilled with Winter being so close. Winter can be beautiful, but I get too depressed if we have too many days that are dark and gray.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try the year long project, too, but I didn't join up. I'm going to try the "arting without a commitment." I have a travel chest I grabbed out of a neighbor's garbage and have been saving. I'm already seeing the depression setting in, though, from the darker days here, and haven't been able to get myself motivated to pull it out and start decorating it. Hopefully I'll be able to give myself a kick in the butt and get moving.
@Meri, I agree - each season passes more quickly, it seems (except for winter, heh.) I was discussing this with my adult kids recently... how even the time from the beginning of school until Halloween seemed to just drag as a kid. Now - poof! Another year is nearly gone.
ReplyDelete@Boonie, Hendrix possessed pure, raw talent. I guess I might be a fan. ;)
@Joe, life goes on... ob la di, ob la da, eh? ;) You're so right.
@Joco, I do embrace a more minimalist style of haiku. It seems to me to epitomize the very nature of the genre. I recently read a list of something like 60+ 'rules' for writing haiku. Ha! :)
@SG, autumn is too short, in my opinion. Can we tweak the seasons just a bit?
@Rebecca, how strange - I tried repeatedly to leave a comment on your blog, as well, to no avail. Hmm. I also had to pile on another blanket a couple of nights ago. Frost on the pumpkins, soon...
@Bill, wow, do I ever relate. Winter is soooo long and soooo exhausting. I drag through each day, listless and dreaming of being a lizard basking on a rock in the desert. I'm glad you're going to come along on the year-long art journey. I debated about whether to commit, too, but it's just time for me.
Noelle, Tami, Marilyn, thank you for your kind comments and to each of you for visiting. I truly appreciate it.
Peace.
~Deb
That should read thank you to ALL of you for visiting!
ReplyDeleteoh it breaks my heart to feel summer slipping by so fast... here in northwest idaho just near the canadian border we are already feeling the coolness of autumn and yes, a few flowers are still blooming... and of course being a fan of jimi (his death 40 years ago saturday) one of his best is purple haze... haiku my heart
ReplyDeleteoh I <3 how you've combined image and verse together.. photoshop work I guess? its come out very beautiful..
ReplyDeleteHaiku My Heart
ms pie, the first day of autumn is predicted to boast a high of nearly 90 degrees, unheard of here in SE MIchigan. Summer keeps returning with a vengeance - she's not giving in, just yet. I'd be happy to send some your way... I imagine you have some brutal winters, there.
ReplyDeleteLeo, thank you so much and yes. Photoshop is currently my favorite playground.
Thanks for the visit!
~Deb
