Haiku My Heart

UPDATE 8-31: My dad passed away on Monday, August 23rd. He fought with everything he had, but in the end, he was just too worn out to continue. Now healing must commence for those of us left behind. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to stop by and read my posts, and to those who have shared their hearts, too. And especially, thank you for the caring you have shown. Words will never be able to express my gratitude.
~~~
Still waters run deep.
Watching someone slowly make their way back into this world from the nebulous depths of a closed head injury reminds me of this proverb. While everything on the surface appears still, we can only guess at what is churning below, or how deeply consciousness has submerged while the body heals. The occasional ripple of response that breaks the surface gives us only a hint (and hope!), just as the calm veneer of a quiet lake or river doesn't tell of the life teeming below.
Miracles do happen. Our family has been blessed by your prayers and your healing thoughts and energies, and we are so grateful. Thank you.
Once again, the original photo was taken by my son, Philip. Thanks, Philip.
The path to haiku your heart begins on Rebecca's blog. Enjoy.
Peace to every hearth and home.
~Deb
  6. This is a very expressive haiku. "Shades of healing beckon."
    May your loved one continue to heal as you continue to pray and hope and love. Miracles do happen.
  14. dear deb,
    i have come looking in on you and am so sorry to find that you have the unimaginable task of saying farewell to your beloved father. i only know you through a "handful of words" small yet powerful haiku that have tied our hearts together across the miles.
    the journey you are now walking ties our hearts closer still.
    holding you in love, compassion and understanding.
    you are in my heart as you traverse this most challenging terrain. walk in peace....always towards the light. you will never be alone.
  17. deb- Rebecca sent me here and here I am to tell that I hope the powerful peace which death can sometimes bring with it which blesses those left behind, is with you and yours. I am sorrowful for your loss. I feel these are clumsy words but please know they come from my clumsy heart.
  18. Deb - I hope it helps at least a little to know that, though words seem like dust at times of great grief, there are many beautiful haiku souls gathered around you right now.
  21. Ms. Moon, Meri, Delphyne and Leslie,
    I'm overwhelmed by this response and the caring and kindness of folks I've never met. Words are often inadequate and that's okay... the sentiment is expressed with love, grace, peace and beauty - which are felt - nonetheless.
    Ms. Moon, the clumsy heart belongs to all of us, maybe to remind us of this divine and precious humanness.
    Love and gratitude to all.
